Backflow Prevention

Backflow prevention plays an important role in your fire protection system. Backflow preventers are installed on a variety of water supply lines, including sprinkler/standpipe systems, HVAC units, boilers and irrigation systems, to prevent contamination or toxic water from flowing backwards into your municipality’s water distribution network.

National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 25, Section 13.6.2 and the Ontario Fire Code requires an annual test and inspection of your backflow preventer. This section sets out the requirements to ensure your sprinkler system has sufficient water pressure when needed.

Total Fire Protection’s certified backflow prevention professionals inspect and test your backflow prevention assembly, issue a report and provide you with any deficiency details.

Fire Drill Services

Fire Drills are required under the Ontario Fire Code. Semi-Annual Inspections are referenced in the Ontario Fire Code: Section 2.8.3.2: Fire drills are to be conducted at least once during a 12 month period in most buildings. For high rise buildings, every three months.
